CECAFA lauds for Somali University games revival

The council of East and Central Africa Football Associations ‘CECAFA’ has praised Somali Football Federation for the revival of the country’s university games after more than two decades of absence because of lawlessness and anarchy in Somalia.

Secretary General of the regional football governing body Mr. Nicholas Musonye said in a letter sent to Somali football federation on Monday that CECAFA was fully satisfied with the continuation of the huge job by Somali Football Federation despite hardships and the daily armed conflicts in the country.

“The news of Somalia Football is receiving positive publicity here in Kenya and across the CECAFA region. I want to urge the Somali Football Federation Media Department to keep that good work and for the SFF to keep working hard for the good of the people of Somalia.

“I want to thank Somali Football Media Department for the news we receive from Somalia. I also wish to congratulate SFF leadership for reviving University Games and for all their efforts to establish structures for football development in Somalia” Musonye added in his letter sent to Somali Football Federation on Monday.

He said that he was personally very proud of Somali people for their support of the spreading of football activities across the country which has been experiencing one of the world’s most dangerous security situations for the past two decades.
