A Somali man was today sentenced for the stabbing a social worker to death in 2009

A unanimous jury today sentenced 29-year-old Kamal Omar Yusouf to the maximum penalty of indefinite psychiatric treatment and subsequent deportation from Denmark for the murder of social worker Birthe Christiansen in 2010.

The jury found Yusouf guilty of stabbing Christiansen 22 times in the car park outside the Holsterbro, Jutland , unemployment office where the 56-year-old was employed.

The defendant, a Somali citizen, was frustrated with Christiansen because he had been removed from a trainee position at an electronics store.

Yusouf had previously been declared mentally unstable. In addition to the treatment sentence and deportation, he must to pay 1.26 million kroner in restitution to Christiansen’s widower.
