Appeals court convicts Somali ax man

An appeals court has found a Somali man guilty of a terror attempt for breaking into the home of a Danish cartoonist who caricatured the Prophet Muhammad.
The Western High Court on Tuesday upheld a February guilty verdict by a lower court, which gave Muhideen Mohammed Geelle a nine-year prison sentence. It will decide on a sentence Wednesday. The prosecution is asking for a 12-year prison term.

The 30-year-old defendant entered cartoonist Kurt Westergaard's home last year armed with an ax, but Westergaard escaped unharmed.

Danish authorities say they have foiled several terror plots linked to the 2005 newspaper cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that triggered protests in Muslim countries.
