Security tight in Mogadishu following reports of possible attacks

Major roads in Mogadishu have been closed following reports of possible attacks by Alshabab militants in the city.

Police officers are guarding government positions, setting up road blocks to search cars and pedestrians.

Deputy, Banadir Governor Ali Ahmed Gure urged residents to be vigilant and report to the police any suspicious acts.

“We are taking these precautions to protect our citizens from terrorist attacks” said Mr. Gure.

Security officials in Mogadishu say Alshabab is on the brink of carrying out attacks in Mogadishu.
“Police obtained reports that Alshabab terrorists are planning attacks against the people of Mogadishu” he added.

Alshabab has threatened to carry out more attacks against government positions after the group claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing assault in Mogadishu courts on April 14,which led to the death of 34 people and wounded 60.
