At least 97 Somali lawmakers tabled a motion in parliament Wednesday (May 15th), asking Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon and his cabinet to seek a parliamentary vote of confidence, Somalia's RBC Radio reported.
Second Deputy Speaker of parliament Mahad Abdalla Awad said the lawmakers followed the correct procedures tabling the motion and the speaker of parliament accepted it.
"According to article 75 of the constitution, the parliament will hold a session about the motion within five days from the day of the submission," Awad said.
Abdirashid Hiddig, one of the lawmakers who tabled the motion, said parliament lacks confidence in Shirdon's government. "They did nothing in terms of the security. This government is still opposing the rights of Jubbaland to form its administration," he said.
