Somalia:No confidence vote on somali prime minister Withdrawn

At least 96 Somali lawmakers tabled a motion in parliament Wednesday (May 15th), asking Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon and his cabinet to seek a parliamentary vote of confidence, Second Deputy Speaker of parliament Mahad Abdalla Awad said the lawmakers followed the correct procedures tabling the motion and the speaker of parliament accepted it.

“According to article 75 of the constitution, the parliament will hold a session about the motion within five days from the day of the submission,” Awad said.

However  half of the 97 members who table the motion in parliament last Wednesday now says they have made mistake and it is not the right time to ask the premier to seek vote of  confidence. This comes as huge protest was stake by Somali civil society in the south and central Somalia region in support of the prime minister.
