Ottawa’s 2014 Community Safety Award Winners Announced

Crime Prevention Ottawa is pleased to announce the winners of the 6th annual Community Safety Awards. The awards recognize the people and programs that have made a difference in preventing crime and making communities safer across the city.
The seven winners will be acknowledged at the Community Safety Awards ceremony this evening, Monday, November 3, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.
The award winners are:
 Youth Worker Award: Sadia Abdullahi, Senior Child and Youth Worker, Lowertown Community Resource Centre
 Volunteer Award: Lucie Marleau, Crime Prevention Vanier
 Leadership Award: Haleigh Guest, Counsellor, CHOICES: School-Based Prevention Initiative, John Howard Society of Ottawa
 Youth Engagement Award: Ottawa Police Youth Advisory Committee
 Community Program Award: Ottawa Drug Treatment Court, Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services
 Business Award: Homestead Land Holdings
 Lifetime Achievement Award: Abdirizak Warsame, Multicultural Liaison Officer, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services
Crime Prevention Ottawa would also like to recognize the following award finalists:
 Diane Larocque, Ottawa Police Service
 Cst. Admir Minarolli, Ottawa Police Service
 Nick Lebrun, Ottawa Community Housing Corp.
 Hani Saad, Hand in Hand Bayshore
