Crime Prevention Ottawa is pleased to announce the winners of the 6th annual Community Safety Awards. The awards recognize the people and programs that have made a difference in preventing crime and making communities safer across the city.
The seven winners will be acknowledged at the Community Safety Awards ceremony this evening, Monday, November 3, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.
The award winners are:
Youth Worker Award: Sadia Abdullahi, Senior Child and Youth Worker, Lowertown Community Resource Centre
Volunteer Award: Lucie Marleau, Crime Prevention Vanier
Leadership Award: Haleigh Guest, Counsellor, CHOICES: School-Based Prevention Initiative, John Howard Society of Ottawa
Youth Engagement Award: Ottawa Police Youth Advisory Committee
Community Program Award: Ottawa Drug Treatment Court, Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services
Business Award: Homestead Land Holdings
Lifetime Achievement Award: Abdirizak Warsame, Multicultural Liaison Officer, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services
