Somalia Interior Minister has disclosed that over 760 police personnel are being deployed to several strategic towns in south and central Somalia newly liberated from al-Shabaab control.Col. Issack Ali told reporters in Mogadishu on Tuesday that police officers have been sent to areas in Hiran and Middle and Lower Shabelle regions.

Col. Issack said they are being fully equipped to start operation.
Relative calm has returned to several parts of Somalia following clashes between peacekeepers and al-Shabaab militants on Monday in villages in Gedo Region near the Kenyan border.
Witnesses said the occupation had followed several hours of intense fighting between the militants and Somali government troops who were patrolling the area.
At least four soldiers were killed.
The regions bordering Kenya have been a battleground in recent months, as Shabaab step up its campaign of violence against the Somali government and its allies under AMISOM.
Over 50 people including Kenyan non-Muslims have been killed by the militants over the past two weeks.
